Introduction:

There is a Windows version of this program located at:

http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/water/quality/common/wastemgmt/awm.html

  1. This program provides assistance with the calculations that are necessary to design a waste treatment or storage facility. It also provides guidance on items that need to be considered when operating and managing the system. It supports design of waste storage facilities, waste treatment lagoons (both anaerobic and aerobic) with single or multiple cells, and a combination lagoon followed by a waste storage pond. Design of lagoons can be done with one of three procedures, either the NRCS Agricultural Waste Management Field Handbook (AWMFH) procedure, Clyde Barth's Rational Method, or a method for optimization of biogas production.
  2. Additionally the program will assist in determining land application requirements based on a variety of available crops and selection of the controlling nutrient.

The program is written for national use. As such, many of the supporting files can be adjusted to adapt to a variety of locality type variations.

The file that is available is a self-extracting file that contains three additional self extracting files. These three additional files contain:

Subset (abridged version)

This file is a subset of the Animal Waste Management program that was distributed for national use. All of the information that is included in the base set data file as well as national climate information has been stripped out. If you have (or intend to download) the base set, there is little need to download the unabridged version of the program.
