Most of the software reviewed and made available on this page was developed for use by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) engineers in Ohio. Each application is made available for your use by the NRCS and you are free to use and share any of the applications that fit your needs. Although each application has received considerable testing, the NRCS and the developers will not be responsible for errors that might be generated by the software or consequences related to the use of the software and associated errors. Should you uncover a problem (real or perceived) the developers can be notified by sending a message.

While not totally verified, this software is believed to be "Y2K" compliant.  None of the programs contain date computations so the very worst impact of the new millennium would be a misprinted date on the reports.

2001 release:

There are several reasons for this release of the Ohio Engineering Software.

First, there has always been a desire to have all of the programs use the same interface.  Some were feeding from the "oh_eng.cfg" file while others used the "whereare.you" file.  Some could use the mouse with a window like menu while others did not.  Hopefully all of the programs in this release look and feel somewhat the same.  The "tab" key even works as an enter key similar to many other applications.

Several of the programs had no user guide or help screen information.  While very few people read a manual, there are some that take advantage of the information, so all of these applications will have a guide and help information.  In addition, there is capability to change help screens so that they will help you the way that you might want to be helped.

There were some minor problems using the programs on the Windows NT systems that appeared to be monumental to some users.  Hopefully the majority of these issues have been resolved.  The programs have been tested on a system with Windows NT and data can be successfully saved without error messages.  The printouts appear normal on the local printer.  Unfortunately, they were not tested on remote printers.

We will continue to make minor fixes to the programs but there will not be any additional releases unless someone comes along who wants to move them into the Windows environment.  Should you find errors, please let me know.  If you can't reach me, contact the Ohio State Office.

Good Luck and Happy Computing.
