Introduction:

WASCOB (Water and Sediment Control Basin) is a program that assists in the design of these structures.  These structures are used in agricultural or urban settings to control runoff of water and sediments.  

This program is intended for small drainage areas, typically less than 30 acres.  The program accepts cross-section data in a standard survey format.  Data can be entered as rod readings or elevation.  The cross-sections are used to calculate the storage capabilities of the design site.

After providing a few details related to the watershed and the proposed embankment, the program will determine the height and extent of the dike required to contain the runoff and sediment.  The resulting design includes elevations and dimensions of the pipe / orifice plate outlet.  Once the design is completed, a plan view can be plotted on the screen which is an excellent way to see if the resulting design meets your needs.

Special features include:

• automatic retrieval of frequency based rainfall data required in the design from a database that is maintained using the external "data_ed.exe" program.
  
  
• the ability to add wings to the dike when cross-section elevations are not sufficient to contain the required volumes.
  
• optional routing methods.
